La Fête du Pain
Fête des Guides | 12 aôut
This event brings together the whole of Chamonix around activities organized in each village in the valley. At Le Lavancher, the bread oven is heated for three days to prepare the bread for the big day. The afternoon is dedicated to the sale of bread and in the evening, you can enjoy a dinner followed by a traditional concert.
Le Paradis des Praz
Hike - 1h30
This easy hike begins below the Lavancher, at the Arve, since the path follows the course of the river. This is a route to Chamonix, offering a leisure area which sometimes offers activities such as pony rides.
Les Gorges de L'Arveyron
Hike - 40min (one-way)
The hike begins on Le Chapeau route. This is a relatively easy walk which leads to a waterfall with stunning views over the Chamonix valley.
Climbing - 4th to 7th difficulty degree
On the way to the Gorges de l'Arveyron, you can stop at the dalles de l'Arveyron, a climbing wall along the path.

Activities that we recommend
It is often recommended to climb the Aiguille du Midi or visit Montenvers to explore the Chamonix valley. Here are our more personal experiences which have marked us because they are less touristy but just as breathtaking.
Le Buet
Hike - 6h30 (round trip)
The start of this hike is from the village of Buet, where you will discover the charming Bérart waterfall with a refreshment bar. At the top, a 360-degree panoramic perspective unfolds, offering an extensive view of the Mont Blanc massif, the plateau behind, the entire Northern Alps, and the Swiss Alps.
La Refuge d'Albert 1er
Hike - 6h30 (round trip)
The access to this refuge is via the Tour ski lifts, and it is located on the plateau of the Tour glacier. It offers a 180-degree panoramic view of the Chardonnay mountains, Argentière, Tour, the red mountains, and Le Mont-Blanc. It is possible to go downhill using the moraine, which runs alongside the glacier.
Le Lac Blanc
Hike - 6h30 (round trip)
Two starting points are suggested for this hike: one from Argentière by foot (with a D+ of 1100m), and the other from the Flégère ski lifts (with a D+ of 500m). Ranked among the ten most beautiful places in France, this hike combines an exceptional panoramic view with a natural reserve where you can observe ibexes and marmots. It ends at the Lac Blanc refuge.
Le Barrage d'Émossons
Family activity
At an altitude of 1950 meters, the place is accessible by car. It is also the starting point for a hike leading to the Émossons refuge, where dinosaur tracks can be seen.
Le Refuge du Nid d'Aigle
Hike - 4h (round trip)
To reach the refuge, you can take the Mont-Blanc tramway. The downhill takes place along the Bonnassay glacier, opening onto a valley where horses roam freely in a magical landscape.
